Why Samsung smartphones are slow? (In India)
Samsung is a smartphone manufacturing firm originated from South Korea on 1st of March 1938, by Lee Byung-chul. Shockingly, the MNC started as a trading company for locally-grown groceries and other stuff like this! In 1980, Lee’s firm stepped in technological world andfrom the till now, Samsung is one of the leading smartphone manufacturing firms in the world.
Samsung ships and manufactures it’s smartphones worldwide and of course also in India. Now most of the users in India complaint about their Samsung smartphones being slow and laggy. It’s not only in India, many users from several countries have the same complaint. To understand this we need to study about the time Samsung manufacturing smartphone SoCs (System-on-Chips).
Initially Samsung used to manufacture SoCs of different firms in their own factories and use them on their smartphones like Qualcom’s ‘Snapdragon’ or ‘Tecno’. After few years Samsung changed their policy of PURCHASING SoC and rather MANUFACTURING their own in order to save money and focus on their smartphone’s betterment. Samsung then created ‘HummingBird’ processor (Later ‘Exynos’) and first time used it in their S1 smartphone and till S4, there were a lot of issues like lag, heating issues and many more. Because of this, people started thinking that Samsung was shipping it’s better processing smartphones in US and Canada (snapdragon based), and for the rest of the world (including India), they were giving low performance variants (Exynos based).

The time of change
The fact that Exynos was poorly engineered processor turned absolutely wrong when Exynos started to compete with Snapdragon in the newer smartphones like S5, S6, S7 and so on. And in fact in some cases Exynos was performing better than Snapdragon. But Samsung rather using Exynos in US and Canada too, continued using Snapdragon and the main reason for that was that Snapdragon processors are made by a firm called Qualcom and Qualcom is an US based firm. Because Qualcom was holding patents of many technologies like 4G, CDMA and of course 5G patents are also with Qualcom and to use these, Samsung have to pay heavy royalty fees to Qualcom which will kill their motive of creating Exynos, which was making saving money on foreign processor and make their own to save money and focus on their smartphones more.
Using Snapdragon processors in US and Canada, and using Exynos processor in rest of the world is a profitable deal for Samsung, Moreover Samsung just needs to optimize it’s software and OS for one device and they can use it for multiple devices which is also fruitful for Samsung as it will same time, and money from R&D department.
These were the reasons why Samsung smartphones are slow in India, it’s because Snapdragon is a better processor than Exynos.
