Why I, and you SHOULD support PewDiePie

YouTube is a major platform for content creators, Millions of people join the YouTube creator community in hope to become successful someday. But where there is population, there is competition.

You must be knowing that a massive battle is going on between the Indian music producing firm     ‘T series’ and The Swedish YouTube king and gamer ‘PewDiePie’ for being the most subscribed channel on the video sharing platform. The beef started in early 2018, and is still going on till this date (16^th Feb 2019). Felix (PewDiePie) is holding the crown of YouTube king since 2013 and is still the most subscribed channel so far. Many individuals from both the sides are taking an active part in the battle. Including Markiplier, Jacksepticeye and Logan Paul from the side of Pewds and major Indian YouTubers like CarryMinati.

This battle took a controversial turn when PewDiePie released a Tseries diss track, in which Felix commented on Hindi language and the population making many Indian PewDiePie fans against him and turning over to Tseries. After some time Felix cleared that this all was a joke and he apologized for that. The world especially most of the Indians are taking this as an India vs western sort of battle, which is of course not good for future of YouTube and their creators.

I personally get a lot of hate in India for supporting PewDiePie, while being an Indian. Here's my answer,

YouTube gives reward to the channels that reached a particular milestone. These awards are called “Creator awards” CREATOR, PewDiePie is a creator, Tseries is just a producing company. Remember the moment when Felix received his ruby play button for crossing 50 million subscribers? It was a massive achievement for not only PewDiePie, but also for other creators, giving them hope that if Felix can be the number being an individual, then one day, one day they will also hold a huge position on the community. On September of 2018, Tseries also got the 50 million play button, being a firm.

 









Felix unboxed the play button in the intimacy of his home, behind the camera, while watching him unboxing and achieving the award you feel like you were there with him, you feel like you helped him achieve this milestone, you feel like you too have won the  achievement. In opposite, Tseries made show out of it, showing there superiority they were ABOVE the crowd, they were ABOVE the people without whom Tseries was nothing. They were making audience feel like “You’re lucky to lay your eyes on this award” Tseries simply didn’t appreciated their fans, there audience, Instead  they called the media, press, celebrities to tell everyone that THEY have done this, not the people sitting below them and not beside them unlike Felix.

It feels like WE are the one with whom Pewds reached this level.

That’s the reason I support PewDiePie, I know the pain, the efforts, the hardship of a content creator. It is not an India vs western thing, it’s about the soul of YouTube, which is eventually dying. It’s like I am comparing ‘Marvel Studios’ with ‘TheOdd1out’, or comparing ‘Shah Ruk Khan’ with ‘Yash Raj Films’. The comparison is totally senseless. YouTube is a video sharing platform for content creators not for other firms. Of course, Tseries is going to surpass Pewds, it’s obvious, it is a firm, with 28 different branches, with 30 people running the channel 24/7. We need to help Pewds reach 100 million subs before Tseries, because if Tseries covers the 100 million milestone, The Soul of YouTube will die automatically because one firm is ruling the platform of another firm. YouTube was created for content creators, not producing companies who just cares for making money.

YouTube needs to be saved and that can only happen if an individual creator rules the platform, not a corporation.
